Hosted Business Solutions

The MLC Hosted VoIP Solution consists of 4 independent products in one package. The above drawing reflects how each of the parts are inter connected  how they are connected to VoIP endpoints and the PSTN.  Each product runs independently on its own  Processor. The single chassis holds all components and is powered by multiple n+1 power supplies depending on the application.  Each of the applications is configured with raid 1 drives for further redundancy.  A typical installation will require a network connection for the Call Agent, one for the Voice Mail, one for the Session Controller and one for each T1 card deployed (regardless of the amount of T1s on each board).. All applications use identical processors, memory and hard drives to limit the spare parts required per site.

The Call Agent holds and Controls the system databases, screen and routing tables and performs call control decisions.  The call control logic resides within the call agents to create the feature set for the subscribers.  The Voice Mail systems and the Session Border Controller are directly controlled by the Call Agent.  Each individual application houses its' own logic, but requests and receives directions from the Call Agent to assist with making decisions re call handling.  The Call Agent also contains the logic to keep the Signaling ports on the Endpoints alive when they are installed behind a firewall or NAT router.  The subscriber Web interface also runs on the Call Agent platform.

The Voice Mail system is a Voice over IP only platform.  It does not have analog interfaces to connect to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), however, a T1 or FXO gateway could provide this functionality if required.  The logic for the Voice Mail system is contained within itself, however, the assignment and deletion of mailboxes is administered in the Call Agent.  The Voice Mail system relies on the Call Agent for directions re telephone calls.   The Voice Mail System also provides system announcements such as changed number, disconnected number, no route available when the PSTN facility does not provide announcements and tones.

MLC'S VoIP SESSION CONTROLLER (VSC) inter operates with endpoints to over come increased security in networks through firewalls and routers deploying firewall capabilities.  The average subscriber does not have the ability to configure their VoIP endpoint equipment and routers to deal with these issues.  In many cases, such as the nomadic user (traveler), even with the ability, they do not have access to the routers and firewalls. The onus is placed on the service provider to correct these problems if they wish to compete in this market.  The MLC VSC overcomes these obstacles and doubles to provide a quality issue for interconnecting networks, in most cases providing routing so subscribers do not have to transverse the World Wide Web to complete their phone calls.

MLC's Hosted VoIP Solution utilizes AudioCodes Mediant 2000 and TP260 T1 interfaces.  AudioCodes' product line includes enabling technology products such as Voice over Packet chip processors, VoIP PCI and cPCI communication boards and VoIP media gateway modules (PMC form factor) and Analog Media Gateways (2/4/8/24 ports). These products are integral to the most advanced and reliable Voice over IP and Voice over ATM platforms on the market, and have been implemented successfully by leading telecommunications and networking manufacturers worldwide.
